Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios Foster a Shelter Dog for Valentine’s Day
For Valentine’s Day, influencer Alix Earle and NFL All-Pro Braxton Berrios chose to forgo traditional gifts in favor of something more meaningful. The couple is fostering Asia, a four-year-old pit bull mix who has spent 495 days at Miami-Dade Animal Services without being adopted.
Although Earle and Berrios aren’t in a position to adopt a dog permanently, they hope that fostering Asia will give her the exposure she needs to finally find a home.
Asia arrived at Miami-Dade Animal Services in 2023 and, despite her affectionate personality, was repeatedly overlooked by potential adopters. After spending nearly a year and a half in the shelter, she finally got a chance to experience life in a home thanks to Earle and Berrios.
Earle introduced Asia to her followers, sharing that she quickly became attached to the dog and hoped to find her a family. She described Asia as incredibly sweet and friendly, saying, “We have yet to find a flaw with this queen” and “She is the most friendly girl in the world.”
Earle first shared her idea of fostering a dog for Valentine's Day on her podcast Hot Mess, revealing that she told Berrios, “I really wanna foster a dog for Valentine’s Day.”
Although Berrios was surprised at first, he quickly embraced the idea. The couple picked up Asia from the shelter and have been documenting her time in their home, giving her the care and attention she had been missing for so long.
Their goal is to help Asia find a permanent family. “We're gonna post this dog every day. We're gonna give it the best life for a week. It’s obviously gonna find a home,” Earle said.
Earle and Berrios’ decision to foster Asia highlights the critical role that fostering plays in helping shelter animals. While many pets spend months or even years waiting for their forever homes, fostering can provide them with the care, attention, and socialization they need to become more adoptable.
Asia is still looking for her forever home, and Miami-Dade Animal Services is accepting adoption applications.
Anyone interested in adopting Asia can contact Miami-Dade Animal Services at Asdfoster@miamidade.gov and include her ID number: A2515036.
By fostering Asia, Earle and Berrios are not only giving her a second chance but also raising awareness about the many dogs still waiting in shelters for their own families. For those unable to adopt, fostering is a great way to provide a temporary home for a shelter dog and help them get one step closer to adoption.
