San Diego Humane Society Rescues 50 Animals from Local Residence

The San Diego Humane Society recently responded to a critical situation at a local residence where a resident had become overwhelmed by the number of pets in their home. The Humane Society transported 48 cats and 2 dogs from the undisclosed residence to their campuses across San Diego County.

Upon arrival, each animal received essential flea treatment and vaccinations before being placed in appropriate housing at the Humane Society's facilities. This mass intake occurs at a time when the organization is already operating at full capacity, caring for a total of 1,962 animals, which includes 939 cats and 795 dogs.

The Humane Society plans to conduct thorough medical examinations and spay/neuter surgeries for all the animals. After these procedures, the animals will be made available for adoption. The organization is committed to providing these animals with the care they need and finding them new homes.

This situation highlights the ongoing challenge of overcrowding at the Humane Society. Back in May, the organization declared a state of emergency due to the high number of animals in their care. In light of this, the Humane Society is urging the community to get involved by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or making donations to support their efforts.

"These pets need our help more than ever," said a spokesperson from the Humane Society. "We encourage those looking to add a pet to their family to consider adopting, and we also ask the community to support us through fostering or donating. Every bit helps us provide second chances for these animals and the thousands more we care for."
