Support Nashville Animal Shelter with Specialty License Plate
Tennessee drivers may soon have a new specialty license plate option to show their support for animals.
With over 100 specialty plates available in Tennessee, the Nashville Humane Association (NHA) is working to join the list. Recently given the opportunity to have its own specialty plate, the NHA aims to raise funds for its Darcy Lashinky Community Pet Food Bank.
The food bank program, established in honor of Darcy Lashinky, a long-time animal advocate and NHA volunteer, provides pet food to low-income families, ensuring that pets do not go hungry even during tough financial times. The program has been crucial for pet owners facing economic hardships, offering them a lifeline and helping to keep pets with their families.
To initiate production, at least 1,000 Tennessee residents need to sign up. Each participant will be asked to contribute a $35 donation, covering the cost of the plate and providing a generous donation to the NHA. This donation not only funds the creation of the plate but also directly supports the food bank, which has seen a rising demand due to recent economic challenges.
The design of the specialty plate features a colorful and heartwarming image of pets, highlighting the NHA's mission to support and care for animals in need. It serves as a reminder of the importance of animal welfare and community support.
In a statement, the shelter emphasized the program’s significance, stating that the food bank “has been a vital support system for our community’s pet owners, ensuring that beloved pets receive the care they deserve, even in times of financial strain.” The NHA hopes that the specialty plate will not only raise necessary funds but also increase awareness about the challenges faced by pet owners in the community.
